Edouard Vuillard 1868- 1940 Born in Cuiseaux, Saone-Loire, France. Attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, then Acdemie Jullian in 1888. Formed a group called the Nabis along with his friends Maurice Denis, K.X. Roussel, Serusier, Ranson, Piot and Bonnard. Had his first exhibition in 1891 and went on to become known for his work of interior scenes and eventually portraiture. He died in La Baule in June, 1940, a short time after leaving Paris to escape the advancing Nazis.
