Artist Info: Israeli artist Itzchak Tarkay (1935 - ) has been captivating his audiences with a kind of figurative style that has become his trademark: women of fashion, women of society, women alone, and women of privilege. The women are usually seated alone or with one or two other women in cafes which seem as if they could be located in any city. Tarkay’s ladies of the afternoon lounge, lunch, chat, and turn a languid eye on the world around them. Since graduating from the Avni Institute of Art in 1956, he has exhibited extensively both in Israel and abroad, and his works can be found in many public and private collections.
