Artist Info:
For more than 45 years the art of Leonardo Nierman has graced, challenged, inspired, and played a leading role throughout the art world. By any respected standard he is clearly a major artist whose substantial creative influence ranges from beautiful and compelling paintings to dramatic stainless steel sculptures and lush tapestries. His art is on prominent display in so many well known museums throughout the world, including one in Spain that is named after him. Influences in Leonardo Nierman’s art include major studies in physics and mathematics for which he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the National University of Mexico in 1951; schools of artistic thought like modern expressionism and cubism; as well as other academic disciplines including studying music, and in particular the violin, for 20 years. By 1953 studies in the psychology of color and form, including the interplay of static and dynamic elements, led to considerable exploration of the relationship between abstract art and cosmic phenomena. Since then his art has employed a rich mixture of natural and cosmic forces, allusions to modern scientific discoveries, and of course, music.
