Graciela Rodo Boulanger (b. La Paz, Bolivia, 1935) explores the relationships inherent in all humanity. She chooses to use an accessible and recognizable subject, such as children, in order to represent the naiveté inherent in all human beings. This exceptionally talented and versatile Bolivian artist, who has long been a resident of France, is one of today’s most widely known and collected artists from South America. Her work is internationally recognized for its unique expression of the innocence, hope and joy of children and her use of color is influenced by her Bolivian background and culture. She has had over 150 international exhibitions and many official honors including a United Nations Stamp issue in 1993, a commission by the Metropolitan Opera for a poster of “The Magic Flute”, and a retrospective at the Museum of Modern art of Latin America in Washington , D.C.
